Happy Halloween!

Nothing scary here this year!
Though the girl in green does look a little frightened.  That's my daughter, the blue crayon.  The only costume making I did this year was sew up four colored "tubes".  The girls took care of everything else themselves.  This is my daughter's senior year in high school, so after seventeen costumes, cute kitties and puppies, Winnie the Pooh, Elmo, a witch, Robin Hood, and so many others, I think my costume making has come to an end.  It's been fun!

Halloween, October 31st is also the anniverary of my first date with my husband.  Twenty three ago.  At the time where I was working, we had a new employee.  He and his wife were new to town, and they decided to have a Halloween costume party.  They begged me to come, and fearing since they were new in town not many would show up, I gave in to go.  But wait, I'd already made a date!  Now remember this was before the days of texting and being on the phone constantly, I just couldn't get up my nerve to call my date and tell him to dress up!  But I went ahead with my costume.  You can imagine my husband to be's look when I opened the door in a twenties flapper outfit, oh how I wish I could find that picture!  Shimmy dress, stockings with a seam up the back, headband with a feather, long rhinestone cigarette holder, and four inch pumps (yes, I know flappers didn't wear high heels, but I love classic pumps).  We made our appearance at the party, I don't think he was too embarrassed to be seen with me, he found out early on how much of a goof I can be, but that's OK, he's a goof sometimes too!  We've never dressed up again (for a few years, we did always put on our matching Spock ears, I told you we were goofs!), but I always remember that first date on Halloween, and I'm glad it turned out the way it did.  Anyone else have any romantic Halloween memories??

spock ears?! i need a pair!!!!

and yes i actually have a romantic halloween story. i live in a college town, so halloween is widely celebrated and all the college kids (and young-ish adults) go downtown dressed up and either hang out or bar hop. i had met my now hubby a few times casually before halloween and ended up meeeting up with a group of friends at a then favorite bar (which is now closed, and i quit drinking a few years ago) and he was included. we chatted and ended up going out for a slice of pizza afterwards. the story has a happy ending since he is my hubby now :)

What a sweet Halloween memory for you and your hubby :).

That's a great looking bunch of crayons! I love Green Crayon's expression.

Oh, I've always wanted to find an excuse to wear a fringed flapper dress. I should have been brave and done it for prom in high school, but didn't have the guts. Maybe someday...
