Not mine this time, but my grandparents, on my Dad's side. The day after mine and my husband's anniversary (see last post), I got these old pictures in the mail from an aunt. And since I love looking at old pictures on everyone else's blogs, thought I'd share.
My grandparent's are celebrating their 45th here, in 1968. I really don't remember them that well, I remember their house, and always having lots of cousins to play with, but they were older and I was one of the youngest, so I didn't get to be with them as much. I do remember my grandpa was born in the 1890's, and as a little kid that amazed me, not even this century! He served in France in WWI, and I think he's the only person I've ever met to serve in that war.
Here they are with all my dad's brother's and one sister. That's my dad in the suit on the left, nice white socks! And how about that wallpaper?
And here are the cousins, I'm the little one on the left that looks rather petrified for some reason. Those are my sisters in the back with the nice flippy hair (hi!). There was one more boy cousin born after me, but sadly him and the pretty girl in the striped dress were killed by a train, just out picking strawberries early one morning.
My grandparent's did make it to their 50th, and I've seen those pictures, but so far no one has shared. I remember that party a little better, all of us cousins were required to wear long dresses. It was 1973, anyone remember Gunne Sax dresses?? I was way too much of a tomboy to be happy all day in that dress!

Nice old photos there. I'm almost there myself to my 50th. Hard to believe really I still feel like a young girl lol..
I just love these photos you posted today. I'm crazy for vintage photos, as you know! I enjoyed double clicking on them to see all the details. Such an interesting story, and I was saddened when you mentioned about the early death of your two cousins. How very sad. Thanks for sharing with us. :)

Wonderful old pictures. Sad that one of the little girls isn't with y'all anymore :(
Lisa, Congratulations on your anniversary! I remember one of the very first times I visited your blog it was to read about your wedding day. You are still the cutest couple. It shows in your eyes how much you love each other. This post about your grandparents is wonderful - yes I do love the wallpaper! You dad was one handsome son! Even in his white socks! Such a fun post! Elizabeth
I love all of my old photos....now you are making me want to use some of them, too, on my blog. These are wonderful....and the one of you is so cute. Glad you liked the kitties...they were precious. Hope they are adjusting to their new life and that Eloise is giving Nibbles Star Bubbles lots of cuddling and petting.
Hugs,

What a nice surprise to get in the mail right after your own anniversary :).
LOL about the Gunne Sax dresses. Yes, I remember them; I, too, was too much of a tomboy to enjoy wearing dresses.
I love the old photos. My mom and I have been going through old photos for awhile now, trying to label everything properly and make sure that we know who everyone is. At home photos are the best - not only can you see family members, but how they chose to make their home as well! Perfect research tools for those of us who love old houses....
